In an effort to ease new students’ transition to the university, AUB organized a New Student Orientation program with informative sessions for incoming students aimed at preparing them for study in the medical field. The students were coached on the importance of Clinical students as well as being a medical doctor and/or becoming a health professional.
The orientation program facilitates learning about diversity, personal responsibility, academic support opportunities, clubs, organizations, research opportunities and more. Students also get an opportunity to socialize with their peers and an orientation leader to make friends before the semester starts. They were also taken on an island tour, visiting the historic Harrisons Cave and other popular destinations in and around Barbados.
Student Orientation was held on Friday 9th February 2018. In attendance were, the Clinical Dean, Dr. Sam Suhail, Associate Dean, Dr. Syed Kazmi, Afzal Mehdi, Additional Director, Rep. Ministry of Health, Mr. Sean Braithwaite, Insurance Rep. Ms. Jeannette Barrow and the new students.
